We know the market is the "smaller the better".
Think about the long
term care and life expectancy of your new best friend. Having a unhealthy 2 pound dog that keeps you at the vet's office
and lives only 4 to 5 years. What is 1 or 2 more pounds compaired to thousands of dollars spent at the vet and the heart break
of loosing your beloved friend. How big is too big? That question we cannot answer for you. We will not sell or
breed for puppies that appear to have a long term health condition. No matter how small or cute. We adjust the breeding
program accordingly.
With our Chihuahua breeding program we are working to improve
the health of T-Cups. We use 4 to 5 pound females that carry T-Cup
in thier lines. We use very small males 2 1/2 to 3 pounds.
With smaller they are the health in puppies become a serious issue.
Comlications with the long term health of very small puppies become a serious and exspensive
problem. We have discovered breeding a little larger female with T-cup lines improve the health of the babies tremendously.
Yes, we do get some Toy puppies in each litter and sometimes we do not get even one T-cup. I want healthy babies. Their
size, color, coat is not the most important factor. When we do get a T-cup the puppy has always been healthy and
so far we have not had any long term complications.
Ask yourself, how small do I really want my puppy to be?
